Abstract

The Holy Quran is the final source of Divine Guidance for humanity. Religious scholars have subjected the text of the Holy Quran to interpretations since its revelation. A number of books have been composed to explain the methods and principles to investigate and comprehend the message of the Holy Quran. The principles of Quranic hermeneutics is a constituent part of Uloom-ul-Quran (Quranic Sciences); in the Quranic Sciences, Pakhtoon scholars have made considerable accomplishments. This study focuses on eight Arabic books, dealing with the exegetical principles of the Quran. It provides the succinct biographies of the authors and critically examines their academic contribution. This brief evaluation suggests that Pakhtoon scholars have authored invaluable books which will continue to facilitate the comprehension of the Divine Message.
