Musnad Abi Ya’la Al-Mosali’s Tafseeri Rawayat: Analatylical Study of Semaitaical & Authenticity

Abstract

The Musnad of Hafiz Abu Ya'la Ahmad bin Ali bin Muthanna bin Yahya al-Tamimi al- Mawsili (307H), the great Imam of Hadith of his time. His Musnad is named as Musnad Abi Ya'la al Mowsili. The same book is known as “Al Musnad ul Saghir”. He was born in 210 Hijri in Mosil (Northern Iraq) and passed away in 307 Hijri in Mosil. Imam Dahabi called him as "Muhaddith of Mosil". This book contains 7555 Hadiths with their chain of narrators. The author has indexed them according to Sahaba's Masanid as Musnad al-Siddique, Musnad Umar, Musnad Ali and then Masanid of Ashra Mubashira and others. Then he compiled and collected under each Musnad all the Hadiths that were narrated by the Companion. It is considered as one of the authentic books of Hadith. A lot of scholars of Hadith referred from this book in their writings. A great content related to tafseer is scattered unclassified in different masanid of Companions in this book. 355 verses from 85 Suras have been mentioned in hundreds of Hadiths. ۔Most of these Hadiths related directly or indirectly to Tafseer ul Qura’n. Hadiths containing Tafseer ul Qura’n known as Tafseeri Riwayat have been discussed briefly from different aspects in this article.
