Difference between Miracle and Irha`as and the Amazing Growth of the Holy Christ: A Religious and Scientific Study

Abstract

The Capacity of performing unusual tasks, conferred upon any prophet, as a proof of his claim of prophet hood, is called miracle. In other words, it is an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause. Besides miracle, certain other unusual tasks are also there like Irha`as (pre-prophet hood miracle) which refers to the happening of supernatural event before prophet hood. Among the Irha`asa`atof the Christ, one is the issue of his talking in childhood. Like other post-prophet hood supernatural events (miracles) and pre-prophet hood supernatural events (Irha`asa`at), several types of doubts are raised regarding this kind of Irhas as well. For a believer, any authentic reference as a proof on this Irha`as would be sufficient, but if it is also supported with some other logical and scientific evidence, it will then become more believe able and will be a reason for the satisfaction of heart. In the article under analysis, it is tried to explain the difference between a miracle and Irha`as in the light of Islam and   revealed religions and to deal with the matter of the speed of body growth of the Holy Christ through the lenses of research and science.
