A Scholarly Review of the Trends of ‘Allᾱma Nasῑr ud Dῑn Hunzᾱi in Tafsῑr e Qurᾱn

Abstract

Qurᾱn is the core source of Islamic teachings. Therefore, Qurᾱn’s translation and explication have remained focal point of interest in all ages. Qurᾱn has the unique attribute of being unchanged or unadulterated (so guaranteed by Allah), however its explication and Tafsῑr has been attempted in all ages. There have been some kind of Tafsῑr which have not been approved and accepted by the major sects of Muslim Ummah. As for instance the Ismᾱ‘lῑ explication of Qurᾱn has been rejected by Shi‘ah and Sunni, however a well known scholar ‘Allᾱma Nasῑr ud Dῑn of Hunzᾱi sect (which is an evolved shape of Ismᾱ‘ili sect in the contemporary times) has attempted new spiritual teachings in his latest Tafsῑr and Explication of Qurᾱn. This article aims to evaluate the contemporary trends in Tafsῑr and explication of Qurᾱn by ‘Allᾱma Nasῑr ud Dῑn of Hunzᾱi.
