Abstract

This article Provides a description about the role of Mysticism (Hindu and Muslim) in the promotion of peace. Mysticism is the English word used in different religion in different names. In Islam the word taṣawuf has been derived from the Arabic word “Ṣūf” wool or from “Ṣafᾱ” means cleanliness. In Hinduism the word bakhti is used for mysticism, which means the intense devotion to personal aspect of deity. Both the Islamic and Hindu mysticism played a vital role in the extension of peace. It was due to the teachings of Hindu and Muslim saints like Ḥaḍrat Dᾱtᾱ Ganj Bakhsh ‘Alῑ Hijwῑri, Khawaja Mo‘ῑnuddῑn Chishti and Bhagat Kabῑr Dᾱs (d.1518 A.D). Taṣawuf and bhakti teaches us real love to Allah or Brahma. With the help of real love we can achieve a permanent peace in the world. In the article under reference the issue has been analyzed.
