Curriculum of Arabic Rhetoric and its Teaching Methodology in Dars e Nizami: Present and Prospect

Abstract

Religious seminaries in Pakistan play a vital role in the promotion of Arabic Language, its dissemination and molding of the religious ethos. Being important centers for the proliferation of the Arabic Language these seminaries have specific Curriculum and methodology for the teachings of Arabic language and Literature. The aim of this research paper is to investigate the approved Curriculum of Wifaq-ul-Madaris board for the teachings of Arabic Rhetoric, and to examine the teaching methods adopted by this board for the teachings of this approved Curriculum. It is found that Curriculum of Arabic Rhetoric and its teaching methods in the mainstream Wifaq-ul-Madaris are not meeting the requirements of the modern era. Keeping in view the importance of Arabic Rhetoric and its teaching methods, the present study undertakes the solid and fragile features of both Curriculum and its teaching Methods and recommends suggestions to improve the existent curriculum and teaching methodologies of Arabic Rhetoric in Wifaq-ul-Madaris.
