Abstract

Proverbs and Representations are the most important part of the divine statement. They have a prominent share in bringing out the facts of faith from their effective method of diagnosing persuasion and facts and differentiation at the time of disagreement and suspicion. Learning of the Qur’anic Proverbs is very important; the great scholar who is diligent must have learned them. So the proverbs mentioned in the Qur’an have a great fortune. The number of proverbs mentioned in the Qur’an with the Representation words is forty-two and the proverbs that were mentioned without the words of Representation, they are so many. So we must turn to the method of representation in the Noble Qur’an in order to notice the signs of God in his Holy Qur’an and its miracles. Al-Imam Al-Shafi’i approached that the mujtahid must know the science of proverbs because they are among the most important sciences of the Qur’an. In this Research Paper I present the meanings of the “Proverb” (Representation), its linguistic definition, its derivation, as well as some of the evidence from them, and then I show the occurrence of this type from the Holy Qur’an and its use among the Arabs before Islam, as well as mention some Evidence for them. The proverbs that came in the Noble Qur’an have many kinds, some of them are long and some are short, and some are apparent and authorized, and some are latent in which there is no word of the proverb, so I explain all its kinds. Various purposes and wisdom of the Proverbs (Representation) in the Holy Qur’an are also enlightened in this Paper.
